American actor Johnny Depp was born John Christopher Depp II on June 9, 1963. He is well known for his often eccentric roles in successful movies such as Pirates of the Caribbean, Edward Scissorhands and Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas. He also played roles in most of producer Tim Burton's movies, such as Nightmare before Christmas, Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street and Alice in Wonderland. His films have grossed well over 2.2 billion dollars at the American Box Office and more than 4.7 billion dollars worldwide.
As well as being one of the most paid actors in Hollywood, Johnny Depp has also won several awards, such as three Academy Awards, a Golden Globe, and Screen Actors Guild Awards. Johnny Depp is also a tattoo aficionado, and boasts 14 tattoos as of 2011 with different meanings. Like many people, his tattoos are there to remind him of the important people and places he has been in his life. Depp has the name "Lily-Rose" tattooed over his heart for his first child (7), a portrait tattoo of an Indian Cherokee chief on his right arm (1) to remind him of his native heritage as well as the name "Betty Sue" and a heart tattooed on his left arm (2) for his mother.
He also has a tattoo consisted of a sparrow and his son's name "Jack" tattooed on his right forearm (3), as well as a gothic writing tattoo that says "Silence Exile Cunning" on his left forearm (4).
