Biomechanical tattoos, which are often referred to as simply biomech tattoos, are designs and images that mix mechanical or technological designs with the organic. Biomech tattoo designs are mostly the result of work done by HR Giger, the artist best known for his work on the titular alien from the movie Alien. While Giger's alien was an intentional blending of mechanical and biological, biomech tatto designs are often less horrific and more subtle. Biomechanical patterns or images for tattoos can include mechanical devices that appear to erupt from under the skin or give the illusion of wires or rods operating under the skin. Biomechanical tatto art is a new tradition in tattooing, without much in the way of history, but it appears to be growing more prevalent. Read more about biomechanical tattoo meanings.
