Capricorn Tattoo Designs: Hardworking And Tenacious

Capricorn is stable, hardworking, and practical and is represented by a goat or a goat-fish hybrid. Just like the goat, the Capricorn individual can be hardworking and tenacious, but also obstinate and stubbornly set in his ways

Capricorn is the tenth sign in the zodiac and people born between December 22nd and January 19th are considered Capricorn individuals. Capricorn is one of the earth signs and cardinal signs. Ruled by Saturn, the sign controls the anatomical bones and skeleton. Capricornus, the constellation of Capricorn, is the second dimmest constellation of the zodiac, with Cancer being the faintest.

Although no one is certain why the goat is sometimes depicted with a fish tail, one story suggests that the god Pan, a humanoid goat, fought a monster and dove into a great river. The part of him that remained above water stayed a goat, while the part underwater became a fish. Another mythological story says that the goat once nourished and protected Zeus while he was just an infant. This story, however, makes no mention of and gives no explanation for the fish tail. Either way, the goat has been illustrated as part fish or sea creature since 1000 BC. It is also referred to as “goat-fish” in Babylonian star charts from the same era.

The Capricorn individual is usually cool and composed, possessing inner strength of will and unfailing persistence. Capricorns enjoy respect and love to exercise their authority. Oftentimes, the calm exterior hides self-doubt and poor confidence. Capricorn individuals prefer to follow the rules and conduct themselves accordingly. They expect others to behave in the same manner.

Although outwardly they seem arrogant, unfriendly, and humorless, the Capricorn individual is warm, sympathetic, uncertain, and witty inside. They may be fairly pessimistic and often mistake their pessimism for realism. Capricorns are usually socially inhibited and reserved. The hold their tongue until they form an opinion, but once they form this opinion then they are unlikely to change their viewpoint, regardless of contradictory evidence.

In relationships, the Capricorn individual is equally reserved and cautious, just like in his business dealings. Although he can be overly traditional and undemonstrative, he is fiercely loyal and protective of his loved ones. He favors commitment and monogamy and enjoys working hard to build a strong foundation for friendship or love. The Capricorn individual, however, also expects his partner or friend to behave in a similar manner.

He appreciates people who behave only in socially acceptable and respectable ways, and abhors unconventional or flighty people. Because of his reserved and stoic nature, the Capricorn personality does not abide clingy or needy people, whether they be friends, siblings, or children. His career and aspirations, for which he works extremely hard, are equally important to his social and personal life.

At his best, the Capricorn can be obedient, hardworking, successful, quiet, intelligent, unwavering, and determined. The Capricorn individual appreciates structure and order, and thrives best in this environment. At his worst, the Capricorn individual seems cool, withdrawn, unfriendly, unapproachable, work-obsessed, overly cautious, stodgy, and uninteresting. Capricorns are typically compatible with other earth signs, including Taurus, Virgo, and other Capricorns. They are down-to-earth and, as such, would not work well with flighty, imaginative, or airy individuals. They prefer things to be concrete and prescribed, rather than open-ended, creative, and abstract.

Capricorn tattoos can be of the symbol, or glyph, which represents the goat combined with a fish tail. A Capricorn tattoo might also be an image of the goat or goat-fish hybrid. A person might choose a Capricorn tattoo because they believe in the zodiac and feel that their sign is an accurate representation of themselves, or because they wish to memorialize or honor a loved one who is a Capricorn.
